With faceted search, the customer can easily filter information to hone in and/or compare models.
Are you thinking about how faceted search can help you? Here are some good concepts/practices when designing an interface.
1. TALK TO YOUR B2B CUSTOMERS
If your website audience are businesses chances are they may find wishlist feature more valuable if they can think of it as shopping lists. A simple links re-labeling to “My Shopping Lists” and re-location to a more prominent place can go a long way (especially if combined with points below).
When used as shopping lists, customers can create multiple lists for different needs. See example below.
2. CREATE AND PUBLISH WISHLISTS TO YOUR CUSTOMERS
SCA wishlist feature allows merchants to create wishlists and publish them on customer’s My Account section. As shoppers go to their My Account pages, they will see the default created wishlists that you created for them. You can use this to welcome shoppers with discounted items (tied with promotions), or simply suggest features you think they might like (e.g., “Just For You” wishlist).
In My Account this list is displayed together with the lists created by the customer.
3. IDENTIFY POPULAR ITEMS
You can use wishlist to understand your inventory popularity trend. Browse through top selected products and you may surprise with what you see. This can help you anticipate future demand of these products making sure you don’t run out of stock on high demand season. Also, getting a full picture of your most popular products allow you to market these products better on your website, email and social campaigns.
4. SEND AUTOMATED REMINDERS
Persuade shoppers to complete a purchase by sending follow-up emails after they add a product to a wishlist. Reminders can help bring back attention to those products they were attracted to in the first place and give you the chance to present juicy promotions to help conversion.
5. PIN IT!
For B2C retailers offering product the likes of the pinterest kind, it’s a smart idea to add a “Pin It” button next to each product under the saved wishlist. Help your shoppers share what they love making it easy for them to add them to Pinterest. This could also apply for other social media websites.
6. SHARE WISHLIST WITH FRIENDS
Shopper is motivated, take the opportunity at the right time and make wishlists shareable by adding sharing by email capabilities to share entire product list(s) to colleagues, family and/or friends.
